  • February Challenge...

It's still Feb 1! I have 40 minutes left to update!

The hubs and I have challenged each other to try and blog every day of February.

Can we do it? I'm not sure but I really want to try. We both love blogs and blogging but never really get the chance to update our sites very often.

Here are the guidelines of our challenge:

    • We must try and blog every day, no excuses, barring some kind of catastrophe
    • A post is considered to be a minimum of 5 sentences (clear sentences with a point) and 1 image
    • Post for the day must be completed by 11:59 p.m.
    • Posts can be about anything but content should be original to us (not reposting something cool from another blog)

Ok, so that's all the guidelines for now. Here's my first post! Continue reading

  • Starting the New Year in Misery....

At the suggestion of my wonderful hubs I decided to blog about the worst thing that's ever happened to me physically, because he never wants me to forget what an awesome husband he's been the past week.

So the second half of last year I was pretty good about working out and taking care of my body. I even started jogging, yes me, jogging. I could hardly believe it! I managed to work myself down to my pre-marriage weight and run 3 miles in less than 30 min (something I'd never done before)!

Well, fast forward to the holidays and all the awesome eats and then our annual trip to Orlando to see family and friends and do more eating. *sigh* Working out and eating right went to the wayside. Then when I attempted to get back on track I hurt the heel of my right foot and couldn't step down on it without grimacing, so working out was put on hold.

So the new year starts and my heel is still busted, and I am basically in hibernation mode because it was sooo freaking cold in NYC. I feel the pounds creeping back on and my body start going back to lazy mode.

Then disaster struck. On Tuesday morning as I was getting ready to head out to the office, I'm folding a sweater on my bed and *bam* I feel as though someone stabbed me in my lower back!! It was so painful and sharp my knees buckled and I fell down on my bed. Continue reading

  • The Perfect Poster!

We moved over the weekend to a temporary sublet on the UWS. It's the first time we've ever lived in a full service building (elevator, laundry room, gym, doorman, etc.). I've always loved old walkups and townhomes but I have to admit it's pretty fun to live in this type of building and in a neighborhood that has it all (tons of stores, shops and restaurants)! We're only here for a short time so we're trying to enjoy it while it lasts. I don't even want to think about moving again. I hate packing!

This poster was all over the blogsphere a while back. I saw this on madebygirl and HAD to get it! I ordered this weeks ago but it was on back order. I totally forgot about it and it came today. Such a nice surprise! It's perfect for me and oppa!

I'm gonna paint over an old frame and pop it in and hang it up. Now, I just have to find the frame in the sea of boxes I'm surrounded by.

  • Prince Harry was in Our Hood?!

Prince of pop: A gleeful Harry finishes the obstacle course by sitting on a balloon  to burst it during his visit to the Harlem Children's Zone in New York yesterday. Source

That's right around down the block from where we live. Dang! Missed my chance to see a royal. hehe

I'm really enjoying the spring weather in NYC. Winter felt so long this year, so it's nice to finally bust out the flip-flops and skirts. We've resumed walking in Morningside Park before work and in Central Park on Saturday mornings.

Our favorite course is walking from our apt through Central Park to the upper 60s, and then heading west to watch a matinee at our fave NYC movie theater. It takes about an hour but it's a great workout and fun way for us to unwind from the week. I literally feel the stress disappear as I walk through gorgeous Central Park.

But now we can only watch matinees. I can't bear to pay $13 for a movie when it's only $6 in the a.m. (yes I am becoming a penny pinching ajumma!)

I recently discovered an indoor heated swimming pool a block away from our apt! I can't believe all this time it was just a street away! I love that about NYC, how each street and block has a surprise and can lead to an unexpected discovery.   We checked out the pool yesterday morning and it looked great- lap lanes, super clean, locker rooms and best of all it's free to use! Yay! Can't wait to jump in tomorrow night for open swim.

How's everyone's spring coming along so far?

  • The Little Things...

It's amazing how sometimes the smallest gestures are the most touching and stay with you throughout the day and even week. I don't want to forget these things when I'm older (so excuse this post if it's sorta mushy)...

    • chasing me down several flights of stairs or the street because I forgot something at home
    • surprise coffee runs before work
    • being walked to the front of my office just because you didn't want to see me go yet
    • emails with videos, images or messages to cheer me up or just because you thought of me

    So many more things...

Thank you so much for all the little ways you touch my heart and love me!

  • GG Night!

Nothing like a new episode of GG and some homemade sangria with a fellow GG lover! (of course the best is when your hubs fully supports your addiction to teenybopper tv )

Excuse our ghetto entertainment set up (yes the monitors and laptop are stacked on old phone books, it's a great way to recycle!), we are a TV-less household, but with hulu and cwtv who needs tv.

  • Yay for Fruit Arrangements!

Today I received an Edible Arrangement from a former intern. It was so pretty and delish! My coworkers and I gobbled it all up.

The arrangement included chocolate covered bananas. yum yum yum...this was one of the best gifts ever!

  • Random Photo of the Day

I randomly found this photo last night when I was organizing the thousands of pics we've taken in the past couple of months.

I have to admit, the iPhone has changed our lives. It's so convenient to have and an endless source of entertainment. It's the hub's but you know when you're married it's basically like it's yours. hahah

  • Happy New Year, Go Gators and Check Out Maangchi...

Happy New Year! I have like 10 half written entries on private and tons of pictures to upload so in the coming weeks you'll see random backdated posts show up. Excuse the randomness, I'm determined to get up to date in '09! =)

Tonight is the big night we've all been waiting for- the BCS Championship! I have a post on my work xanga about this past season. If you need something to pump you up go check it out here. Go Gators!

I know many ya'll are into Korean food and learning how to cook it so I thought I'd share this. I ran across this cool site called Maangchi, that features video recipes and even free downloadable Korean cookbooks in English. Check it out! The videos are so cute! You gotta love the fobby accent.

Here's one of my fave videos so far on how to make galbi jjim:

  • Halloween 2008: East Meets West

    Happy Halloween!

Oppa and I went to the West Village to check out the Halloween parade. As we were walking toward the parade I did a triple take when I saw a sign for Bulgogi hotdogs.

Yes, that's bulgogi on top of a beef hotdog wrapped with sangchu, pickles and sauteed onions on the left. On the right is dakgalbi on a chicken hot dog and sangchu.  The place is called New York Hot Dog and Coffee on Bleeker b/t Carmine and Leroy. The hot dogs were actually pretty good -stuffed with a lot of meat and the addition of the sanchu balances it all out, definitely hit the spot.

Halloween is no joke in NYC! This year was the first time we checked out the Village Halloween Parade, and boy it didn't disappoint. I've never seen so many adults all decked out in costumes, running around and dancing like little kids. It was so fun to see all the monsters, superheroes and Sarah Palins! Continue reading
