  • Halloween 2008: East Meets West

    Happy Halloween!

Oppa and I went to the West Village to check out the Halloween parade. As we were walking toward the parade I did a triple take when I saw a sign for Bulgogi hotdogs.

Yes, that's bulgogi on top of a beef hotdog wrapped with sangchu, pickles and sauteed onions on the left. On the right is dakgalbi on a chicken hot dog and sangchu.  The place is called New York Hot Dog and Coffee on Bleeker b/t Carmine and Leroy. The hot dogs were actually pretty good -stuffed with a lot of meat and the addition of the sanchu balances it all out, definitely hit the spot.

Halloween is no joke in NYC! This year was the first time we checked out the Village Halloween Parade, and boy it didn't disappoint. I've never seen so many adults all decked out in costumes, running around and dancing like little kids. It was so fun to see all the monsters, superheroes and Sarah Palins!

Left: crazy float jam-packed with people in costumes; Right: great replica of the float from Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Left: Jedi Warriors; Right: blurry shot of us at the parade

An estimated 2 million people go out to check out the parade each year. It was definitely jumping in the Village.

There were so many great costumes but I think my favorite costume of the night was the three girls that dressed up and acted like the Olympic gynastic team from China.

You can't tell but they had the glitter eye makeup and the hair pins that all gynasts clip in their hair, you know those triangle clips. Lots of people asked to take pics with them, and each time they would giggle with their hands in front of their face and bow and then stick out their hands like they landed a flip. kekek These girls were too cute.

We ended the evening with cupcakes and a beer cocktail from Sweet Revenge. Oppa just Yelped "cucakes" and it turned out this place was the closest to where we were. We love finding unexpectedly yummy places.

Their Crimson and Cream cupcake was sooo good! Definitely, going to go back for them. Also, the Monaco cocktail was very tasty.

I leave you with one last picture of my Halloween. My favorite doggy Gromit dressed up as a little lamb, under my desk. Oohhhh he's so cute!

Hope everyone had a fun Halloween!

Tomorrow's the Florida-Georgia game! GOOOO GATORS! The Bulldogs are Gator bait!!
