The Mets...
Since 10th grade I've pretty much only followed football and basketball, making the sports-less summers unbearably long (except for the one summer we played water basketball almost every day). But now that we live up here I decided to give baseball a try. Last season I watched a little bit of the Mets and started to like them (especially since I do not like the Yankees) and since I already own so much orange and blue clothing it just makes sense to root for them. keke (just kidding, well kinda
) So when my coworkers asked if I wanted to go to a Mets game I jumped at the chance. We went to see the Mets and Cubs. The series was 1-1 headed into Wednesday's game. There was a three hour rain-delay, we ended up waiting for about 2 of those hours but we found ways to stay entertained...
We found food...
Some of my coworkers played DS
We waited and waited...
Finally the rain stopped...and they decided to start the game...don't they look like little army men?
Because of the rain delay a lot of fans left so we got to move down closer to the field.
We even go to see Mr. Met
The coworkers that stayed for the game...
Because of the rain delay we get to go to a Mets vs Twins game for free!

Bases loaded...David Wright at bat...the Mets ended up winning 8-1
Can't wait to go again next month! Yeah go Mets!

celebrity sitings (part deux)
Two weeks ago I saw Patrick Ewing two blocks from my office in front of the Hotel New Yorker. He was coming out of his Escalade (probably the only car big enough to fit him!). He's huge! I knew he was 7 ft. tall but in person he seems like he's 10 ft. tall.

Last week when Ethan and I were on the way to the dentist we saw a huge crowd near the Apple Store. Turns out the CBS Early Show was filming segments there. We saw Julie Chen and Harry Smith.
Then yesterday after work, I saw another familiar face. As soon as I saw her, memories of Jojo and his Felicity obsession came rushing into my mind. hehe
Tangi Miller from Felicity
Pretty cool you can walk around the city and run into (somewhat) famous people.

Lunch
Today during lunch I went out with the two other girls that I work with and went threading. It was my first time. It was really cool and felt very refreshing. I think threading may become a regular thing.
Has anyone else ever done this before?Next time one of you girls come and visit NYC I'm gonna take you to get this done.

I can't believe I just saw...
On the way to work this morning I saw a girl wearing a long colorful shirt, footless black lace trim spandex tights, white ankle socks and black keds with white trim on the bottom. I guess this is not that remarkable to everyone but you gotta understand, her outfit was basically my uniform in fourth and fifth grades, minus the hair scrunchie!
Seeing all these old school (well my old school) fashion trends come back makes me feel old and weirds me out. I refuse to dress again the way I did in elementary school no matter how trendy it is right now!
Crazy!
Hope everyone is having a good Monday. We found out that when it rains in the Northeast, it pours. Yesterday, I saw sewer holes overflow and highways flood. Even in Florida that's a rare sight.

40 Days of Transformation, Galbi, withdrawal
Ok, so since February 25th until Celebration Sunday, oppa and I had been fasting/committed to doing several things in hopes of reinforcing some good habits and breaking some bad ones:
- no soda or caffeinated beverages
- no pork or red meat
- workout three times a week
- prayer meeting/Bible study two times a week
- Daniel's Fast April 6-8th
I have to confess the first two weeks I had caffeine withdrawal headaches everyday!
It was so tough to refrain from drinking soda, especially when you eat something greasy but we did it! No red meat and pork was challenging since we are major carnivores but we incorporated chicken and seafood into our diet, which was a great change. Starting to workout again after a long break was not easy. The first couple of times I seriously felt nauseous
. I haven't lost weight but I feel physically better and I sleep better at night (like a rock). Also, we are more energetic! I have a new found like (not quite love) for exercising and really want to keep this up. Three times a week is hard but I want to commit to this for life. During the 40 days I joined a 6 week Women's Bible Study, where we studied several women in the Bible. When I think back I don't think I've had many chances to deeply study the Word with a group of sisters so this was such a nice change. It was great to hear the opinions and applications of the other ladies in my group, so many times I felt like my eyes were opened to new truths. I also made several new friends!

Going to Marveling Place (prayer meeting) twice a week was both good and challenging. I have to admit several times I would start to doze off, but every time I was able to just give thanks to God for his blessings and also pour out my heart for my friends, family and the burdens on my heart. Setting aside a long period of time to pray is something I want to continue to do. I know we can pray whenever we want and our Father will hear us but going to MP is my special time during the week to just totally focus and spend precious time with God.
To finish out our Lent commitments we did the Daniel's Fast for about 3 days. The fast is based on Daniel in the Bible and his commitment to not eat foods that would defile his body as he was training to become one of King Nebuchadnezzar men. Here is an excerpt from a info sheet we received:
Daniel was making a statement of faith when he asked for only vegetables to eat and water to drink, then dared the overseer to compare the appearance of the four sons of Israel with the young men who ate the king’s food.
Daniel's reason for his "diet" are given in Daniel 1:8:
"But Daniel determined that he would not defile himself by eating the king's food or drinking his wine, so he asked the head of the palace staff to exempt him from the royal diet." (The Message Bible)
We could eat veggies, fruits and whole wheat bread and grains, we couldn't eat anything processed or refined, white flours, all meats, dairy products and caffeine. We basically ate fruit and veggies all day long and had several all natural pb on whole wheat bread sandwiches. I'm not sure this fast really did much besides increase my appreciation for spices, flavors and PROTEIN! =P
However, when I think back the past 40 days have been a great experience. The small sacrifices and suffering I endured was nothing compared to the suffering that Jesus endured but it brought me closer to Him. I eliminated a lot of the excess baggage in my life and made more time for Him. Also, I have made great improvements in my health that I hope will last for the rest of my life. Before this experience I never really fasted anything but now I am open to fasting and see how beneficial it can be.

After service on Sunday we decided to reward ourselves and went to Wang Galbi in Flushing
! I wish I had a camera with me to take pics of all the good food, but then again me, oppa, Yoon Kyung and Maggie didn't say much for the first 30 minutes we were there- no talking just eating. keke It was a good deal and surprisingly good quality and taste for a buffet. I will be bringing out-of-town visitors there in the future. Whoa, super long update but on a final note, I'm slightly down this week. I have March Madness Withdrawal. I get this every year, but it is especially worse this year because it will probably be a while before we see such awesomeness from the Gators again. *sigh* Can't wait for the Fall for college football.
