Dlau told us about the Writers and Artists Concert Series at the B&N in Union Square featuring NY Times reporter David Carr and singer/songwriter (and reportedly Mandy Moore's bf) Greg Laswell. We headed out and really enjoyed the story-telling/song set. The combination of Laswell's sad, sweet songs and the story of Carr's amazing, crazy life made for a cool, complimentary collaboration.

I love that in NYC there are so many free shows, exhibits and events you can attend on any given day. It's really perfect for poor city-dwellers like us.

The 7th anniversary of the tragic September 11 events. On the way to work I noticed that things were somber and quiet that morning. There was a little more police prescence than usual. I wrote an entry for Revelife about the 9/11 events you can read here.

Later on that night I stopped in the middle of the street to take a picture of the World Trade Center memorial lights that are beamed up each 9/11 where the two towers stood. It's still hard to believe those buildings are gone.

Kyu was in town on a business trip so he and Marie came to visit us in our new place. We hung out in random places around the city, here we are at Le Pain Quotidien near Central Park South.

Later that night we had dinner at Amy Ruth's, which is a neighborhood landmark. We only live 3 blocks away but weren't able to try out their famous chicken and waffles until that night. The food was really good!  We especially loved their cornbread, mac n cheese and fried okra! I have a feeling we'll be taking all our visitors here.

Happily filled with good Southern food!
