What I Did This Summer Part 1
This has been the longest I've gone without updating my xanga in 2 years!
I added pics to my site a couple of weeks ago and have been slowly trying to organized them each week but didn't finish until just now. *phew* Sooo many pictures. This isn't everything but this will give you a good idea of what I've been up to this past summer.
May- we went down to Florida for the Oldskool Get Together and for Peter's high school graduation.
Oldskool Get Together 2008 in South Florida. Good friends, lots of laughter and catching up, we had such a great time and we're so blessed to have so many wonderful friends. Miss you guys!
I can't believe Peter is now a college freshmen. Time has flown by so fast and watching him grow up has been surreal. I still think of him as my baby bro but seeing him in these pics I know he's a young man now. He's made our entire family so proud. He's a godly young man with a big heart for people, we couldn't ask for more. He's so smart too, decided to go to the University of Florida, to continue the family tradition. We had a BBQ in honor of Peter's graduation at Wekiva Springs. I forgot how gorgeous the springs in FL are. The water was so cool and clear. I think we ate enough samgyupssal for a year.
At the Orlando airport waiting for our flight back to NJ. I always get so sad when I have to say goodbye to my family. I was all teary eyed and red so I put my sunglasses on. Oppa put his new shades on too but I think he just wanted to look cool. keke I miss the clear, clean Florida skies.June- tried lots of new spots around the city, went to visit Kyu and Marie in PA and checked out Brooke Fraser and William Fitzsimmons at the Highline.Batch in the West Village, the mango thai tea pudding was delish!
Cupcake from Cupcake Cafe near the office and Chinese-Peruvian food from Flor de Mayo on the UWSJosh oppa and James were in NYC for a pastors' conference so Justin and I met up with them and showed them a lil of the city. So good to see them both, especially before their big moves.Trip to Allentown, PA
We went to visit Marie and Kyu in Allentown before Kyu moved to Houston. They took us to this awesome flea market in the countryside. It was a gorgeous day. At the flea market we ate all kinds of stuff, including Amish baked goods and each found great flea market finds. After a day of shopping and eating and more shopping and eating
we attempted to burn some calories at the batting cages. The last time I went was 6 years earlier in Korea. I was super rusty. =
We ended the evening with a drive-in movie! The drive-in was huge and they played new releases. We ended up watching Zohan. =PThe following day we went to church and ended our fun weekend in PA. The part of PA we were in was really lovely, with beautiful scenery and lots of fun things to do.The following weekend we participated in Kyumee's surprise weekend for Lyn. =) It was a sweet surprise and the whole weekend was packed again with activities, food and my fellow Gators!
While driving around the city I spotted a cool place!
Dinner at Sambuca in the UWS- food was excellent, portions huge and prices great, so we were all happy campers.
After dinner went to the NY Philharmonic for a wonderful evening of classical music. This was oppa and my 3rd show of the season. I highly recommend the MyPhil program if you want to check out some performances without paying a lot of money. The seats are always great. After the show we ended up meeting Justin and checking out his apt. We were all able to squeeze onto his bed. Of course we took some propped, self-timer, group shots.
(I love Christine's face in the 2nd pic. She was the odd woman out. hehe)
In Justin's mirrored elevator taking pics. After this we said goodbye to Kyu and prayed for his move to Houston in the middle of the street. I wonder if the folks passing by thought we were some crazy Asian cult. heheThe next day after church we had one last meal together at Bonchon in Leonia. This place is soooo good.Wednesday of that week we met up with my coworker Chris and his wife Esther, Diana and her friend Yoyo and a business associate that was in town to catch the Brooke Fraser/William Fitzsimmons show. They were both great live. The venue was surprisingly spacious but intimate. It was a dinner show type setting, so ordered desserts and drinks and watched the show. That weekend Peter came up from Florida to visit us and to attend JAMA with me. We took him to Mitsuwa, where he bought the slices of cake below and then went to Starbucks where they were devoured in 2 minutes.
Ok, so I hope you're not sick of pictures and my update yet. Part 2 is coming next! =) Thanks for coming over and checking it out. If you skip two posts down you can see my back post of the rest of April. More to come soon!
